The Government of Tamil Nadu has issued a letter of facilitation dated 10/09/2007 for establishing the project.

The power team is led by Mr. Ahmed A.R.Buhari, Founder President and CEO of the C&O group. It was his dynamism and free spirit that led to the many firsts that C&O notched up during its long history. With a Graduate degree in Marketing from Bentley College, Boston, USA and a Masters degree in Shipping, Trading and Finance, from City University, London, he is the driving force behind the group. His vision encompasses Creating of an Energy Conglomerate with Coal mines, Ships, Logistics businesses and Power Plants all over India and abroad.
Mr. Moosa Raza, Chairman of the Executive Committee is a veteran, not only having headed various large companies and corporate projects but also having served as one of the highest ranked government officials having handled industries such as Steel, Fertilizers, Textiles, Chemicals, etc. With over 45 years of experience under his belt, he is the guiding force, not only for the power project, but for the entire group.
Mr. S.M. Zafrulla, Managing Director of Coastal Energen, is a veteran of the power industry and has over 36 years of hands-on experience in the implementation and O&M of Power Projects. He was the Managing Director of Visvesvaraya Vidyuth Nigam and Technical Director of Karnataka Power Corporation Limited. He was responsible for getting several awards from Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, the then President of India and from Dr. Manmohan Singh, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India for best executed/performing power stations .
Mr. P.K.Sen, Member of the Board, brings extensive technical expertise and experience to the fold. His experience spans over 45 years in the field. He has been at the board of renowned companies such as Thermax Babcock & Wilcox, Thermax, Babcock &Wilcox of India etc. He has been a consultant to the Government of Canada and on their behalf carried out RMU study (Renovation, Modernisation &Upgrade study of Indian Thermal plants). He has been a consultant to World Bank and advisor to many engineering Companies like Babcock Borsig, Bechtel Consulting, etc.
The core team is ably supported by an experienced and qualified project team comprising veterans in their respective fields including project management, finance, power, etc.
